Research Overview

My research interests are in the field of applied electromagnetics, namely electromagnetic imaging, non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDT&E), antenna design, and millimeter wave (mmWave) propagation in 5G cellular networks. Some of the research projects I am/was involved in at AUS:

  • Development of a microwave imaging system using a phased-array antennas.

  • Design of a wearable microwave tomography system for bone density estimation.

  • Channel sounding at 28 GHz and 38 GHz mmWave 5G frequencies.

  • Building material characterization at mmWave 5G frequencies.

  • Non-destructive detection of cracks in metallic and non-metallic surfaces.

  • Using commodity WiFi signals for imaging, material characterization, and crowd management.

  • Design of RF systems for CubeSats.

My research is conducted mainly at the microwave imaging, non-destructive testing, and evaluation laboratory (MINEL) at AUS, UAE.
